Deliverable Contracts vs. Perpetual Contracts 1: Deliverable Contracts Have Delivery Dates, Perpetual Contracts Do Not
There are three main differences between perpetual contracts and deliverable contracts. The first difference is: perpetual contracts have no delivery date, so theoretically as long as the contract is not liquidated, you can hold it indefinitely; whereas deliverable contracts have a fixed expiration delivery date, and must be delivered and closed out at maturity.
